You can do a lot to prevent common and costly crashes and injuries before they happen. What might seem like a minor fall or a bicycle crash can result in costly complications. Serious injuries, such as traumatic brain injuries from pedestrian, bike, or vehicle crashes and tragedies like drownings may be prevented. That’s why we work to provide you with information, and help to create a safer environment for recreation as well as daily activities.
Here are just some of the ways we are working to help Solano County residents:
Older Adult/Senior Falls Prevention keeps our loved ones independent
Falls are the number one cause of trauma cases in our local emergency rooms. To reduce the number of falls suffered by our older adults, we’re working with the Area Agency on Aging, NorthBay Healthcare Group, the Kroc Center, and the Stop Falls Coalition to offer our Senior Falls Prevention Program.
Solano Car Seat Connection helps your child ride safely
Did you know that nationally, upwards of 80-90% of car seats are not used correctly by parents and caregivers? We aim to change that! We offer free Solano Car Seat Connection classes to help parents correctly buckle their infants and children into car safety seats or boosters.
Helmet Safety Program saves lives
Did you know bicycle injuries and deaths affect children and young people more often than any other age group? We work with community partners to offer Bicycle Helmet Safety programs throughout Solano County so we can all keep moving safely.
Drowning Prevention – Designate a water watcher!
Did you know that in California, drowning is a leading cause of injury-related deaths among children under the age of five? And, that children can drown in shallow water like buckets and bathtubs? Drowning prevention goes way beyond the pool!
