Knowing how to eat healthy and be active doesn’t help if you can’t find great choices close to home.
We are working on increasing healthy snacks-to-go in corner stores and healthy checkout lanes in grocery stores. Delicious, convenient and healthy! Easy access to great food and snack options at your local corner and grocery stores is important so residents have healthy choices. Too often the only options in some convenience stores are chips, soda, and candy bars – how can a mom make a healthy purchase if no options are available? Wouldn’t it be great to have the option to buy a banana or an apple, or a small bag of nuts? You can help change what is carried in our stores by asking your local corner store owner or manager to add more fresh produce and healthy snacks.
By eating healthier foods, you will soon notice that you have more energy and fewer health problems. Our Healthy Stores for a Healthy Community project, is here to help you to achieve your health goals.
Solano also has great farmers’ markets and community gardens that bring you even closer to the best foods to support good health.
